Important Announcements

The Important Announcements widget displays important updates, notes, or announcements that users should see when they log in to SurfGuard.

This widget is maintained by Surf Life Saving Australia.

What the widget shows

  • The widget displays one or more announcement cards, each containing a message that has not yet been marked as read. Messages are:

    • Displayed most recent first, based on the message date

    • Shown as static cards with left/right navigation or swipe controls (depending on your device)

    • Visible only while they remain unread

How to use this widget

  • Use navigation arrows or swipe gestures (on touch devices) to move between messages

  • Select “Mark as Read” once the message has been reviewed

  • When a message is marked as read:

    • It will no longer appear in the Important Announcements widget

    • The Dashboard will update to show only remaining unread messages

  • Select “View More” to read the full announcement

Troubleshooting

Action

I can’t see this widget on the dashboard

This widget is only visible if:

  • There are unread messages, and

  • You are viewing the Memberships application

  • Check your application context and switch if needed.

I saw a message earlier, but it’s now gone

This can happen if:

  • You marked the message as read

  • The message was removed or updated by system administrators

  • This is working as expected.
