Languages
The Languages area within Maintenance area allows authorised users to manage the list of languages used across SurfGuard, including those required for AVETMISS and member demographic reporting.
View Languages
To view the list of languages:
Open the menu
Next, you have two options:
Scroll to the Maintenance section to find the Languages section
Search for “Languages” in the search bar at the top right hand side of the page
Select the Languages option
View the Languages page which shows a list including:
Language name
ASCL code
Enter the relevant language name into the Search bar and select “Search”
The list will update with the search results
Add/Edit Languages
You can add or edit the list of languages only if you have the relevant permission to do so.
Option A: Add Language
Select the “Add Language” button
The Add New Language drawer opens
Add details
Select Save to save your changes
If successful, a confirmation message appears:
Option B: Edit Language
Select one of the languages in the list
The Edit Language drawer opens
Update the details
Select Update to save your changes
If successful, a confirmation message appears:
Delete Languages
You can delete languages only if you have the relevant permission to do so.
Tick at least one of the languages in the list
Select the three vertical dots (kebab) in the top right of the screen
Select “Delete selected records”
Select “Delete”
If successful, a confirmation message appears:

Issue | Possible cause | Action |
I can’t see the Languages option in the Menu | The Languages section is only visible under the Maintenance menu item if:

A language I deleted still appears in reports | Deletion prevents future selection but does not alter existing data. Therefore deleted languages may still appear in historical records |
